Peptides are chains of amino acids connected by peptide bonds. In scientific literature, the boundary between a peptide and a protein depends on context, length, structure and function; no single threshold resolves every case.
Why does context matter?
The same name may appear in an academic paper, an analytical standard or the documentation of an authorised medicine. These contexts are not equivalent. An RUO material is supplied for controlled experiments and does not acquire the status of a medicine, supplement or cosmetic merely because publications about the molecule exist.
What should be verified?
The declared identity, chemical form, molecular mass, analytical method, batch number and validated handling conditions must be assessed together. A name on the label does not replace batch documentation.
